SIR,

I have followed the restoration project on the Shire Hall with interest and like most people have been impressed with the excellent work carried out.

Before restoration there was one point about which I was puzzled – the flagpole on the roof, above the central pediment, leant forward creating (from a side view of the hall) a disconcerting contrast with the vertical emphasis of the facade.

Naturally, I assumed this fault would be corrected when the restoration work was completed, but have noticed that the flagpole (now replaced) when viewed from the junction of Monnow Street and Agincourt Square, is still leaning forward at an angle from the perpendicular.

I assume the mounting of the pole would need attention to correct this situation. Can this be done?
