MONMOUTH AM Nick Ramsay and campaigners have handed in a petition calling for the re-surfacing of the A40 dual carriageway between Raglan and Abergavenny.
The A40 Re-Surfacing Petition handover happened at the Senedd in Cardiff on Tuesday (12th July).
Mr Ramsay and local County Councillor Sara Jones have been campaigning with local residents for many years for this noisy concrete section of the A40 to be resurfaced.
The aim of the campaign is to reduce noise levels for homes close to the dual carriageway.
It is hoped that the Welsh Government will now take action.
Speaking about the petition Nick said: “I have been campaigning alongside local residents for many years on this issue.
“The latest plan seems to be to erect a noise barrier alongside the noisy A40 rather than resurface the road.
“My constituents are not happy with this proposal and are seeking nothing less than resurfacing of the road.
“In my view they have waited long enough.
“I hope the petition will be supported by the Petitions Committee and that we will see action from the Welsh Government soon.”
