Community groups in Usk stand to benefit from a fund that is being made available to spend on adult and youth recreation purposes in the area. The funding, likely to be £300,000 in total, is available as a result of an agreement between Monmouthshire County Council and Barratt Homes Limited, arising from the granting of planning permission for a major housing development at Castle Oaks. Applications are being invited from local groups that wish to be considered for an allocation from this fund. The area in which the money can be spent is the town of Usk plus that part of Llanbadoc situated between the railway embankment (next to the Usk Island Car Park) and Llanbadoc Church. Guidance notes and an application form can be collected from Usk Library, Usk Adult Education Centre or the Sessions House, or send an e-mail to: [email protected]">[email protected] The closing date for the receipt of completed application forms is 30th May 2008. A funding surgery for prospective applicants is being held at the Sessions House, 43 Maryport Street, Usk on Friday 11th April between 10.00am and 4.00pm where local groups can obtain more information.
