NOVEMBER is the first birthday of Harry the Vole.
He's not too sure of the exact date when he was born but he does know that he made his first appearance in Monmouth in 1999 to help the Mayor switch on the Christmas lights.
Harry has had a very busy 12 months and local children have had many visits to their schools where he has been greeted with love and excitement.
In vole years Harry has now reached the point where he thinks he ought to start looking for a career, so he has been to Monmouth Job Centre to seek their advice.
Everybody there is so nice that he is now helping them with a colouring competition and on Wednesday morning he gave out copies to the Osbaston, Wyesham and Overmonnow schools.
The children will have fun finding out what sort of job they might look forward to when they grow up and they also stand the chance of winning a prize for their artistic ability.
