Catches were taken from the bank and boats during the week. Fish were feeding just below the surface but tempting with the fly was both difficult and frustrating on times.
However anglers that did catch from the bank included Nigel Thomas of Caerwent three fish-6lb 7oz, Chris Daniels two fish-4lb 10oz, Gus Lillygreen one fish-2lb 8oz and visitors E.Hancock onefish-2lb, D.Jones one fish-2lb 4oz.
Fishing from the boat were John Hole four fish-7lb, whilst son Robert failed to match last week's success and blanked, J.Wells two fish-4lb 2oz, J.Rutledge two fish-4lb 8oz, Norman Mills three fish-7lb, Alan Doolan three fish-6lb 2oz, Dave Ellis three fish-6lb but regular boat partner M. Capper landed four fish-8lb 15oz best fish was 2lb 12oz.
The water level has fallen slightly and almost all areas of the reservoir are accessible. Most boat anglers used sinking lines and various patterns of "boobies but later switched to floating and sink tip lines when fish started to feed.
Top flies have included red Montana's, cat's whisker and black buzzers. Regretfully only five boats are now available for hire which are extra to the day ticket charges at rates. Hot spots again are the tump and east bank.
