ABOUT £18,500 was taken during a burglary at Overmonnow Garage, Monmouth, last week.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night into Thursday morning when intruders spent a substantial time in the premises attacking the automated teller machine after disabling the alarm.
Police believe around £18,500 was taken from the cash dispenser. The thieves also got away with cash, a safe and a large quantity of cigarettes.
DC Martyn Edwards of Monmouth Police would like to hear from anybody who saw any suspicious movements or saw strangers in the area on Wednesday evening. A wooden ladder was used in the incident and DC Edwards is asking people to check their outbuildings to see if a ladder has been taken.
Intensive police inquiries are continuing into the incident
