The long awaited quarter final of the county cup was played out at the sports ground on Friday, against the first division side Pontymister Athletic.
After beating the first division leaders Cwmbran Park in the third round, Monmouth did not expect to go any further in the competition and were satisfied with their successful cup run. Not expecting to win the match Monmouth found the early pace difficult and were 41 shots behind halfway through an 18 end match. Then the sun burst through the clouds and what can only be described as a bowling miracle occurred.
