THE bonfire is now built ahead of Monmouth’s Fireworks night tomorrow after members of the Rotary Club and a local farmer spent time building it yesterday.
This is in preparation for an evening which has attracted a lot of people from Monmouth and the surrounding areas over the years it has been running. The event has been organised by The Rotary Club with support from the Town Council, set to take place at the Town Field next to the Rowing Club.
To build the bonfire they used old and damaged wooden pallets which were donated by a local company, Mannox and although the pallets weren’t individually counted it is estimated that around 150 were used to build it.
Gates for this year’s Bonfire Night open at 6pm and Mayor of Monmouth, Councillor Rob Barrell will be lighting the bonfire at 6.30pm with a firework display taking place just after 7pm.
