The Bishop of Monmouth attended a special service of Praise and Thanksgiving on Sunday 13th May to give thanks for the substantial repairs to the tiny, historic church of Trelleck Grange.

Funds for this necessary work to the church had been raised by donations, events and from a significant grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Grants were also provided by the Wye Valley AONB Sustainable Development Grant Fund, Monmouthshire County Council Welsh Church Act Fund and the Diocese of Monmouth.

Tintern Community Council provided a grant for the repair of the churchyard wall.

In his address, Bishop Dominic said how pleased he was to attend the service and see the work done to improve the fabric of the church giving it new life for this and future generations.

He reminded the congregation that the heart of the church is not the fabric of the building but the people who come together to make up the church community, to worship together, with a mission to reach out to everyone.

After the service the church congregation enjoyed tea with delicious cakes baked by parishioners.

Thanks were given to all those who helped make this event such a success and worked hard to achieve the restoration of Trelleck Grange Church.

Heather Richards and Grace Heath were presented with flowers in recognition of their particular effort to secure the necessary funds.
