BETHANY Baptist Church, Caldicot spent the week with visitors from across the pond.
A group of 13 people, mainly college students, from Baptist churches in Petal Mississippi, and Atlanta Georgia joined the Caldicot church and served its community.
During the week they worked on a hope project at Cherry Tree nursing home, they served at various church groups, participated in street work and finished the week with a family fun day at Caldicot School, with music, games and refreshments.
Last Sunday (7th June) Bethany's usual vibrant worship was led by the American visitors.
Pastor John Hall said: "It was an amazing week, and one we are hoping to repeat, as our American friends are keen to return, especially as they have heard that only a very small percentage of Wales is Christian.
"Wales was once the land of revival with vibrant chapels where God was at the heart of most communities.
"There are also conversations about some of the Bethany team going out to the States next year.
"Five families from church gave bed and breakfast to the group and we were overrun by the generosity of our church folk who constantly supplied the team and our young people with food. "They came as strangers, but left as friends."
