Local girl Beth Watkins, who grew up in Llantilio Crossenny, is joining nine of her Balfour Beatty colleagues to travel to Kenya as part of a charity initiative to help build a rural clinic in the Kenyan village of Kilo, which will provide general and maternity healthcare to 5,000 homesteads.

Beth and her colleagues, also known as 'Team Kenya 2009', will leave on Friday for the 16-day expedition.

Team Kenya will be testing themselves in hot and challenging conditions in an environment far from their familiar working day.
