SIR,
It surprises me that I am once again in full agreement with Monmouth Town Council.
I have been saying for many years that the bottom area of town lacked character and was not over-welcoming to visitors.
I applaud their decision to install benches and picnic tables in this area and I feel that we could have more of them. I have noticed that they are well-used by both local people and visitors alike.
I would even go further and suggest that benches should be placed on top of the river embankment.
While I am at it, the sloped riverbank area, which was maintained last year by Monmouth volunteers, was well-used by the public for relaxation throughout the summer months.
