FIRE crews were called to a barn at Trelleck Grange near Devauden last week.

The fire broke out on Wednesday evening (29th) at the barn and several crews from the surrounding area were called.

Firefighters from Monmouth, Chepstow and Usk attended the blaze but a decision was made to let it burn out as the crews had to retreat from the barn after it started to collapse.

The barn contained 150-200 tonnes of hay and straw in the 20m2, metal clad building.

Still alight more than 24 hours later, the initial investigation has now concluded that it was caused deliberately.

No one was reported injured because of the incident.
