THE Royal Forest of Dean College participated in the British Colleges Sport South West badminton championships at Weymouth College, which showcased talent from some of the best sporting colleges in the country.

Gavan Townley and Isla Hayes from RFDC proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the mixed doubles final, achieving 2nd place after a gruelling battle against Cornwall College.

Duncan Mullis, RFDC Sports Coordinator said "This is a fantastic result considering the large amount of colleges that entered the competition.  Gavan and Isla worked hard in the final.

"I am proud of them both. They were great ambassadors for the college.  The Badminton team including Gavan and Isla are now busy preparing for the competition at Truro College. The Forest College aims to be the best sporting college in the south west for badminton, and is well on its way to making this happen."
