BIGWELL Fly Fishery in Redbrook celebrated last week after gaining a place amongst the top 100 fisheries in the UK. The accolade, awarded by Trout Fisherman magazine, recognises Bigwell as number 95 in a list of the best still water fishing experiences in the UK, out of 540 venues. Owners Gary and Sue Gray took over the fishery in May last year, and have put in a lot of work to get to this point. "We have made a lot of changes," said Gary. "We've worked hard with ground clearing, aerating the water, stocking the fish and adding a café to the grounds. "We're really pleased with the news. It's great for trade and will bring a lot of tourism into the area. "Already we have people visiting from all over. Some come as far as from Scotland or Ireland." The fishery was visited last Friday by Monmouth's Hook, Line and Sinker Club, pictured. The club, originally set up at Monnow Courts, includes many fishing fans still able to take part with a disability.
