Darren Carl Griffiths, aged 45, failed to return to HMP Prescoed at 6.30pm on Saturday. He was convicted of actual bodily harm in July 2005 at Caerphilly Magistrates and was serving a sentence of two years and one month. He is described as white, five feet eleven inches, medium to heavy build, with brown eyes and shaven hair. He was last seen wearing a white and blue t-shirt, grey sweatshirt, blue and white tracksuit top, black and white tracksuit bottoms. He is not considered to be a risk to the public. He is not a registered sex offender. Gwent Police has activated its operational plan with the aim of locating the individual and the prison are co-operating with us fully.
