SIR,

I wish to express anger and disgust at the way in which I and the other residents of Hadnock Road have been treated by the Monmouthshire County Council planning department regarding notification of an application for a 'renewable energy facility' to be located on our doorstep.

This development would represent a major change of use of an existing factory unit and could have a serious impact on users and residents of Hadnock Road and the surrounding areas.

We would have expected to be informed that this is being considered, but only two households have received notification letters, the rest of us having to find out about it for ourselves.

On hearing about it, I contacted the One Stop Shop in Monmouth, but was left totally frustrated by the experience.

The lady at the front desk knew nothing and so rang the planning department, but the person with whom she spoke also knew nothing, and at each of my questions had to refer to someone else for answers – they did not know either.

Who do we contact to get definitive answers?

I hope this letter will alert the people of Monmouth as to what is being proposed and they will object vigourously as we are.

Maurice Matthews
