Last Sunday, being the nearest to St Francis' Day, was Animal Welfare Sunday.

Churches and Cathedrals all over the UK held special services and the animals came too.

Speakers included many of the UK's leading Bishops who see the theological link between worshipping the God of creation and caring for the beautiful world he created and the marvellous animals he endowed with feelings and left in our stewardship.

The picture is of some of the congregation leaving St Cadoc's Church, Raglan after morning service and heading for refreshments for all in the adjoining hall.

The service was led by the Revd Joan Wakeling, assisted by Revd Hugh Wakeling and Revd Sheila Toms. The readings were read by the Raglan Brownies.

The first hymn was sung lustily by the choir and congregation and four budgies and a basset hound! There after only the budgies actually joined in the singing and it was wonderful having bird song in our worship.
