SIR,
Through your pages I would like to thank our ambulance service.
Recently my friend, Pam, sustained a serious leg injury as a result of falling from her horse onto the lane outside my house. I telephoned 999 to request an ambulance.
Firstly, the person who took my call stayed on the phone until the ambulance arrived so as to monitor Pam's condition.
To my amazement a rapid response car with two paramedics arrived within about 10 minutes and immediately began to assess Pam's injury and make her more comfortable.
An ambulance arrived about five or 10 minutes later and the three paramedics took great care to minimise Pam's pain and move her into the ambulance before taking her onto Neville Hall Hospital.
We all too often hear of complaints, but I cannot praise this team highly enough and thank them for not just their high level of expertise and quick response, but their caring manner.
