SIR,
I am amazed at this ongoing saga over the bankers. There cannot, in my humble opinion, be such difficult decisions to make in running a successful bank.
When one considers the unbelievable amount of money 'given' to the bankers, without any conditions, for them to use in whatever way they saw fit and which they continue to spend on sky-high bonuses to themselves.
I have no doubt that, if their threat of walk out was accepted by the Government, there could be a very long queue for positions at much lower salaries than they consider they are worth.
What is so difficult in having millions from the Government, lending it at very high interest rates, with all sorts of penalties if their conditions were not met, charging fees for any service they can think of and being paid commissions for a range of products for any related business they can attract.
The sooner the whole thing is controlled, like the vast majority of business, the better.
