A CHEPSTOW cancer survivor is organising a zipwire findraiser for a cancer centre where she has received treatment.

43-year old Angharad Underwood is organising the special zip slide challenge and fundraising extravaganza to raise funds for Velindre Cancer Centre, where she has been treated for breast cancer.

The fundraising spectacular will take place on Saturday 5th September at the National Dive Centre in Chepstow from 10am–7pm. As well as the zip slide, there will also be live music from local choirs, a gospel choir, Siobhan McCrudden Music, The Monte Dons and Sydney’s finest – Mitzi Mac, along with food stalls, a bar and a special charity auction with some fantastic prizes, with donations by Wales Rugby Captain and Velindre Patron Sam Warburton, the Manic Street Preachers, Humble by Nature, The Hardwick, WRU and much more.

Angharad said: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 23rd December 2014. After an operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I am now ready to start making a difference, making a difference really helps!”

“We want to get as many people as we can down the zip slide in a day, whilst making a lot of noise and raising money for Velindre, a charity very close to all of our hearts. Please join us and make a difference #victoryovercancer!”

Kylie McKee, Deputy Head of Fundraising at Velindre, said: “What Angharad is doing for Velindre is just amazing. To dedicate so much time, energy and hard work into organsing this event when she’s receiving treatment and running her own business is remarkable. Please come along and have a go at the zip slide, have some food, enjoy the music and support Angharad and Velindre in our quest of achieving Victory Over Cancer.”
