President, Ellen Davis, welcomed everyone to the April meeting of Agincourt WI. We were delighted that we had achieved a first for our entry in the Gwent round of the Royal Welsh Show competitions and Ellen had brought along some of the items from our exhibit for those members who had not been able to go to the judging.

All the entries were of a very high standard, so we were delighted to have achieved first place. The theme of the competition was Shades of one colour, and we had chosen blue, and ours was the only entry in blue. Our exhibit will now go forward to the Royal Welsh Show and the Monmouthshire Show.

Ellen introduced Alison Nichols, a member of the Gwent Federation membership team who gave us an insight into the Organisation with a view to encouraging any members who might like to get more involved with the running of the organisation.

Unfortunately, our speaker for the evening had again pulled out at the last minute, however, a quiz was ready, and the members tested their skills. Refreshments were enjoyed and a general chat time caching up with the news.

Our next meeting is the AGM and our celebration of VE Day when members will be recalling the 1940’s and dressing appropriately.
