SIR,
The Rev Jean Tunnicliffe (pictured above with youngsters from Kymin View Primary) died recently and I would like to pay tribute to her tireless and unstinting support for Bridges Community Centre.
She first became involved in the centre when it was based in Hadnock Road well over 20 years ago. She was a keen supporter of Bridges' aims to provide those services for the community which were not offered by any other organisation in the town.
In addition, in her role as unofficial Chaplain, she visited and supported many volunteers, clients and staff over the years.
Jean served as a trustee on the board for eight years, being involved with the many projects which Bridges has delivered for the people of Monmouth.
She was a strong advocate of offering a place which could be used for all kinds of social activities and in particular as a wedding venue.
She gave tireless support as a member of the fundraising team, starting in Hadnock Road until shortly before her death.
Jean will be sorely missed as an active volunteer and friend and for the sensible, practical wisdom she displayed.
Murray MacFarlane
(Chair, board of trustees,
Bridges Community Centre)
