EIGHT-year-old Katie Dinham of Ysgol y Ffin, Caldicot, had an insight into the life at Wells Cathedral School when she spent a day as a chorister on Saturday, 14th October.
Each year the school opens its doors to aspiring choristers on the second Saturday of October, but with only 45 places available, competition is high but Katie was accepted.
She spent the day learning about life as a Cathedral chorister, taking a tour of the Cathedral and school and enjoying high tea in the historic Vicar’s Hall.
After an afternoon of singing games and rehearsals, she joined the resident choristers in the most beautiful easterly corner of the Cathedral for Evensong.
Boys first sang in Wells Cathedral in 909 and today the choir consists of 18 boys, 18 girls and 12 men.
The day was an enjoyable experience for the talented Katie, made even more special by the fact she was the only successful applicant from Wales.
