SIR,

I know that many of your readers are probably still recovering having taken part in the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon as a runner or as one of the many valiant volunteers.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all of you who supported Barnardo's Cymru by running, cheering, catering, directing, baggage handling, massaging, handing out running vests, balloons, bananas and leaflets or encouraging family and friends to do all of the above last Sunday.

There were 1,000 people running for Barnardo's Cymru on the day with an anticipated target sum of £100k raised.

It was a truly magnificent effort.
