The Bells of St Mary's Parish Church rang out in celebration last Saturday (26th June) to announce the completion of the work in April, which began in September 2009, to the spire.

This was not the only reason to celebrate though, as a special historic memento was also on display.

On a mission to free pigeons, which he had found trapped in the church's tower after the scaffolding had come down, people's churchwarden Grahame Thomas found an interesting chunk of wood on the floor.
