A 62-year-old retired hotelier is facing jail after he twice stabbed a friend he claimed had taunted him for years about having sex with his wife.
Burly Kenneth Jenkins (pictured) told a jury that for years, members of a golfing society called the Bobcats had ribbed him about the supposed sexual fling between his wife Rose and pal Anthony Friendship 30 years ago.
On the night of 11th March last year, Jenkins snapped after Mr Friendship allegedly pinched 60-year-old Rose's bottom, Gloucester Crown Court heard.
He followed Mr Friendship into the gents at the Rising Sun pub in Woodcroft, near Chepstow, and knifed him in the back as he stood at a urinal.
When Mr Friendship turned to face Jenkins he was stabbed again in the a stomach, suffering damage to his spleen.
Jenkins, of Inner Loop, Beachley, admitted unlawfully wounding Mr Friendship but denied doing it with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He claimed in evidence he was on strong medication for depression at the time and he had no recollection at all of what happened in the pub toilet.
But after a four-and-a-half-hour retirement, a jury of six men and six women convicted him by a majority of 10 to two of the more serious charge of wounding with intent.
Recorder Peter Fuller bailed him for a pre-sentence and psychiatric report until 24th February but warned him: "A substantial term of imprisonment is the normal result in a case like this."
