SIR,
Thomas Talbot set up business in Gloucester in 1845 – T Talbot and Company, mineral water and ginger beer makers.
He built a substantial new drinks factory in the 1870s that is currently in the process of demolition.
The Gloucester business continued until 1960 and much of it was on the site of the Blackfriars Priory at Gloucester.
I understand that Bell Lane was also known as Inch Lane and that Monmouth had more than one Inch Lane.
Talbot's products were excellent and the company later bottled well-known beers, ciders and other drinks for other manufacturers.
If anyone is kind enough to respond to this item, I would be very grateful to hear because I am trying to compile a history in order that Talbot's will not be forgotten.
