A man was arrested last night by armed police following the assault in Rolls Avenue on 18th August.
The 22-year-old man was taken into police custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to a 16-year-old boy from Cheltenham who is currently in hospital after sustaining injuries to his arm and back.
Witnesses said that up to six marked and unmarked police vehicles swooped on an address at Shelley Crescent and arrested a man.
An attempt was made to set a car on fire in Rolls Avenue at around 11.15pm that night.
