THERE have been reports of a heavy police presence in Wyesham, Monmouth.

A concerned member of the public said "We saw armed police, a K-9 unit and an ambulance on standby off Hillcrest Road."

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "At approximately 15:35pm on Thursday 14th July 2016 Gwent Police attended an address on Hillcrest Road in Monmouth with concerns for a person’s safety."

Police also returned the following day, the spokesperson said: "Officers attended the address at approximately 11:00am on Friday 15th July 2016.

"There was no further requirement for a police presence."
