THREE people have been arrested in connection with the thefts of high-value vehicles from across Monmouthshire and Newport.

Yesterday morning, (10th March) Gwent Police, assisted by South Wales Police, carried out five search warrants at houses and lock-up garages across Cardiff. This targeted action was in response to a number of burglaries across Monmouthshire and Newport, where high value vehicles have been stolen.

During the search warrants, three people were arrested:

• One 36 year old man from Penarth arrested on suspicion of committing dwelling burglaries involving the theft a vehicle and possession of class A drugs

• One 43 year old man from Ely in Cardiff arrested on suspicion of committing dwelling burglaries involving the theft a vehicle

• One 44 year old man from Ely in Cardiff arrested on suspicion of committing dwelling burglaries involving the theft a vehicle

Officers also seized a number of cars and recovered car parts that they suspect to be stolen. They are now working to identify the original owners.

Detective Inspector Andrew Tuck, who led the operation said: “We want to send a strong message to anyone intent on criminality in our communities, that this will not be tolerated. Our enquiries are on-going and we are determined to bring those responsible for these burglaries to justice.”
