A Monmouth man was reported by police for driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Gwent Police were tipped off that a vehicle was being driven on cloned registration plates in the Newport and Monmouthshire area.

It was soon spotted by a roads policing officer heading towards Caerleon, where other police units were ahead and waiting.

A stinger device was deployed across the road and successfully stung the tyres of the vehicle. With the vehicle tyres deflating, it came to a stop and the driver was detained.

A 50 year old male from Monmouth was reported for the following offences: Driving whilst disqualified, no insurance, fraudulent use of registration plates.

The vehicle was seized.
