A CHEPSTOW woman was stabbed to death by her husband, an inquest has heard.

Stacey Ann Henderson, 35, and her husband Nigel, 52, were both killed as a result of multiple stab wounds after a struggle in their home in Ruffet’s Close on 19th June.

Both were pronounced dead at their home that evening.

Delivering a verdict at Newport Coroner’s Court last Wednesday (11th November), Coroner David Bowen concluded that Mrs Henderson was “unlawfully killed”.

He also ruled that Mr Henderson committed suicide- his wounds being self inflicted.

Detective Constable Jon Lewis of Gwent Police told the coroner’s court in June that Mr Henderson was found with ‘stab wounds to his trunk’ and Mrs Henderson was found with ‘stab wounds to her chest’. Both were stabbed in the heart.

Police were alerted by a neighbour who saw the couple lying on the floor. Authorities had to force entry to the property, and found a knife loosely held by Mr Henderson.

A spokesperson for the coroner’s court said: “The pathologist noted stab wounds of the victim’s chest and heart, along with a number of defence wounds, namely in her arms and hands.

“Mr Henderson was found with stab wounds to his trunk and Mrs Henderson was found with stab wounds to her chest.”

Police also noted that there had been signs of a struggle before the couple were discovered, with furniture in the room displaced.”

The court also heard that Mr Henderson had a torn up note addressed to Stacey in his pocket.

“A note addressed to Stacey was recovered by police,” the spokesman added. “However, it is not known whether it was ever read.”

The inquest was opened in June at Newport Coroner’s Court and was adjourned for three months for the investigation to take place. The inquest is now closed.
