GWENT Police have been cracking down the supply and distribution of illegal drugs in Monmouth over the past two weeks.

According to police in Monmouth, search warrants were carried out on the morning of 7th June at Clawdd-du in Overmonnow and Worcester Street near Monmouth town centre as part of a series of recently completed raids as part of a wider investigation called Operation Breach.

Items seized by Gwent Police Officers included class A drugs and "wads of cash".

Over the past two weeks, the operation has been targeting the supply and distribution of illegal substances in Monmouth and Abergavenny, which has been affecting the quality of life for members of the local community.

In total, eight different premises were searched as part of the investigation, with class A, B and C drugs seized during the raids, alongside suspected stolen goods and the dismantling of a cannabis factory.

A suspected class A drug dealer was also caught supplying in a local pub, whilst further suspects have been identified and investigations into them are ongoing.

Abergavenny ward manager, PC Adam Hollings said: "The supply of controlled drugs has a devastating effect on lives and it will not be tolerated in our communities.

"Officers from the neighbourhood policing team have worked tirelessly gathering intelligence and planning and executing these search warrants.

The neighbourhood policing team have executed numerous search warrants with eight properties being searched and several thousands of pounds of cash and large amounts of illegal substances being seized over the course of the operation.
