NEW affordable houses could be built on the site of the old primary school in Rogiet.

The potential development comprises of one four-bedroom detached dwelling, six pairs of three-bedroom houses and a block of six one-bedroom flats.

There would be 39 car parking spaces provided with an access road off Station Road and an area of green space provided in the centre of the site

The plans which have been recommended for approval were submitted on Monday 4th November 2013 by Melin Homes.

A representative of Monmouthshire County Council Housing and Regeneration – Housing and Communities, said: "There is considerable need for affordable housing in the Rogiet area.

"There are currently 399 households on the housing register requesting a home in Rogiet."
