FAMILY and friends of Caerwent teenager Natasha Scott-Falber skydived 15,000 feet in her memory to raise funds for a special charity.
Natasha sadly passed away two years ago after contracting Toxic Shock Syndrome. Her family and friends plummeted out of an aeroplane last Sunday (28th February) to raise funds for the charity FISCH.
FISCH, which stands for Future of Iringa Street Children, helps those living in Tanzania.
The charity targets physical, social and spiritual needs in the community with the long-term aim of enabling street children to become self-sufficient, balanced, well-rounded and valuable members of the community.
The skydiving team sought to raise funds for a house in Natasha’s memory in Iringa, Tanzania. Money is being raised to bring the house up to scratch and run as a drop in centre for street children.
Friends and family of Natasha were initially supposed to take to the skies on what would have been Natasha’s 18th birthday but because of poor weather conditions the jump was pushed back to the Sunday.
Among the brave skydivers was Natasha’s 79-year-old grandmother Jean Earl.
Mum Mandy Scott said: “The skydive was absolutely amazing. We all had a bit of training in the morning which was a jolly good laugh.
“I was last to skydive but because I’d seen everyone go up and come back alive saying they’d had a great time I felt quite ok!
“I was really excited when it came to my turn. The thing I feared most was the free fall as you’re travelling 130 to 140mph but that was my favourite part.
“Mum did it too and she was just brilliant. I’m so proud of her.”
Natasha’s brother Daniel Falber said: “The whole team had a long and tiring but an adrenaline pumped day filled with laughter and happy memories of Natasha.
“Despite the 15,000 feet descent, confidence was high and every last one of them, including my 79 year Granny made it down with a huge smile.
“Everyone did fantastically.”
It is not yet known how much has been raised for FISCH but it is anticipated thousands of pounds have been raised.
