A TWELVE-year-old girl has been “seriously frightened” after she was allegedly asked to get into a car containing four teenagers in Caldicot this week.

The incident, which took place last Thursday (6th October) on Firs Road in Caldicot, occurred when the girl was asked to get into a car containing four men, described as being in their late teens.

In a social media post the girl’s mother, Rhiannon Hughes, said her daughter had been “seriously frightened” and that she had no idea who they were.

“My daughter who is 12 years of age was walking from the school bus around 4.30pm at the top of Firs Road in Caldicot,” she wrote.

“A silver Ford Focus was stationary as she walked past and a young male got out of the car and told her to get in.”

It is believed that the teenagers were all male and one was wearing a flat peaked cap.

“There was three other people in the car, she said she thinks they were all male. She said one was wearing a flat peaked hat. She has no idea who they were and is seriously frightened.”

In response to the incident Gwent Police say there has been an increase in police patrols in the area to reassure residents and pupils, and officers are working closely with local schools, but say this appears to be an isolated incident as there have been no reports of similar incidents in the area.

A police spokesperson said: “Whilst this was distressing for the girl, we would like to stress that no-one was hurt and this appears to be an isolated incident as there have been no other reports of this nature in the area.

“We are keen to speak to the driver and occupants of the vehicle as part of the investigation.”

The car has been described as a silver first generation Ford Focus.
