A CAERWENT man who died in the early hours of Saturday morning after a road traffic collision involving a car has been named as Nigel Williams.

The incident, which took place at around 3.30am on Saturday 5th November, took place on the A48, near to the Northgate House B&B. 

Mr Williams, who was 55, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital after the incident, but sadly died shortly after arrival.

The family of Nigel Williams said: “Nigel Williams was a local man of Caerwent. He had three grown up children of which he was very proud. He always had time for everyone he met and was always ready to help with anything and everyone. He will be sadly missed.”

A spokesperson from Gwent Police said: “On Saturday 5th November, Gwent Police received reports of a fatal road traffic collision, at approximately 3.30am on the A48 Caerwent, near to the Northgate House B&B. 

“The incident involved a car and a pedestrian.”
