Junior cricketers turn out in force

By Monmouthshire Beacon/Chepstow Beacon in Cricket

THERE was a great turnout at Monmouth Cricket Club’s junior registration evening last week, when more than 25 children signed up to join the club’s junior section.

They were joined by Richard Morris of Ancre Hill Estates, the main sponsor for the junior section.

Mike Maguire, the club chairman said: “We are very grateful for Ancre Hill’s generous sponsorship yet again.

“Their valuable support enables Monmouth Cricket Club to invest in training and safety equipment for the children, ensuring that everyone can take part without necessarily having  their own gear.

“Our junior section is a key priority for the club and the Ancre Hill sponsorship together with a generous grant from Monmouth Town Council will help us to increase junior participation even further this year.”

Junior training for all age groups has reverted to Wednesday evenings. Under nines train from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, and under 11s, under 13s and under 15s train from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Any girls or boys who missed the registration but still wish to join are welcome to do so at the Wednesday training sessions.
