Bitter blow for Caldicot Castle

By Monmouthshire Beacon/Chepstow Beacon in Football

CALDICOT Castle’s bid to stay in Division 3 took a turn for the worst when they lost 5-2 at Cefn Fforest at the weekend.

Following encouraging results in recent games, the defeat by fellow strugglers Cefn Fforest was a bitter blow for Castle boss Dave Adamson.

“We were very poor and it was a bad day at the office,” he said later.

“It was in complete contrast to our performance the previous week.

“Our scorers were Richard Regulski and Joe Shaw-Jones but to be fair, they were only ever consolation goals.

“It’s best to put this one behind us and concentrate on the next one.”

Castle are without a game this Saturday but the following match day on February 18th will see Castle playing at bottom club Sebastopol’s ground when gaining three points will be crucial.

Severn Tunnel’s derby clash with leaders Sudbrook CC was called off because the Rogiet pitch was unplayable due to heavy rain and, in Division 2, Mathern were without a game.
